Major League Baseball recently announced changes to the batting practice hats for each of the 30 teams. This is always good news especially for dedicated fans. It gives you a perfect excuse to go out and buy a new team hat.
I am not someone who has a single baseball hat. I collect hats like many fans collect bobble head dolls. Well to be honest, it is a lot worse than that. I only have about 50 bobble head dolls but according to my wife I have over a hundred Diamondbacks hats.

Earlier this week Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton appeared on a live web chat sponsored by EastBay and Adidas. The chat allowed fans an opportunity to ask the 2009 all-star any questions they might have.
The chat itself was very informal with Upton appearing in a chair in front of a web cam wearing an Adidas shirt (nice product placement). Fans could enter their questions through a browser form. Upton would read the questions and articulate his answers.

With the ninth overall selection in the 2007 amateur draft, the Arizona Diamondbacks picked right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker who had just graduated from Norwell High School in Ossian Indiana.
Scouts raved about his physical abilities and drew comparisons between Parker and Houston Astros staff ace Roy Oswalt. Parker would sign his first pro contract late that year missing the 2007 season.

At the conclusion of the 2009 season the Arizona Diamondbacks had several decisions to make. The team had just completed a campaign where they anticipated battling for the National League Western Division crown.
Instead of being in the play-off hunt the team found themselves mired in injuries that resulted in a 72-90 season where they finished in last place. The team had already fired manager Bob Melvin and made changes in the coaching ranks. The front office turned its attention to the roster.

Unless you have been living in the video tape room watching old game tapes for the past week, you have probably heard that Apple had scheduled a “media event” to introduce a new product. It was hard to miss this as it seemed like every media outlet in the free world has been speculating what this new product would be.
As a card-carrying techno-geek the Apple event piqued my interest. I have long been a fan of Apple’s industrial design and have several of their products strung throughout my house. And since Spring Training was still 21 days 18 hours and 19 minutes away from starting I really didn’t have anything else to occupy my time.

As the calendar turns to the final week of January, baseball fans begin pacing back and forth waiting for that fateful day when pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training. This event signifies the end of the long dark winter and the beginning of spring.
For some odd reason, this final week of January just seems to drag by. Each passing minute of each day feels like an eternity as we wait for February and the return of baseball. The Diamondbacks games that I recorded last summer have been watched and re-watched to the point that I almost have the dialog between Daron Sutton and Mark Grace memorized.

Perhaps one of the most unheralded events the Arizona Diamondbacks put on is their annual FanFest at Chase Field. The 2010 FanFest is scheduled for Chase Field on Saturday February 13 from 10 AM – 5 PM, admission is free. Details of the event can be found on the Diamondbacks web site.
The FanFest was originally designed as a few activities that would go on at Chase Field the first day the general public could purchase single game tickets.

Beginning on January 9th Major League Baseball teams who conduct Spring Training in Arizona began selling tickets to the Cactus League games held in March and early April.
Each team sets their own date to begin selling tickets. The Arizona Diamondbacks are generally one of the last teams who offer tickets for sale. They established January 23rd as the date for tickets to go on sale for home games in Tucson.
